For some reason, the topic of Bose is very black and white. What is also a nice feature is that you barely notice it visually, but when turned on, the entire room is filled with its amazing sound. And that is my opinion on the sound. To wrap everything up, I would strongly recommend this product to a serious music listener that enjoys the sound of music, and not necessary a catchy beat.
I have gone into the local Bose store to listen to it. I have read, and re-read reviews. I do not really listen to CD's anymore, so I figured this would be the best option for me.Set up was a breeze. Either people love it, or they have absolute disdain for the brand. I am a huge fan of Bose. But I favor more relaxed, folk type music, and Bose reproduces a very accurate sound, which suits me just fine.Last week I also received the on-ear headphones for my birthday, and I listen to those in my bed before I sleep, and every night I am lulled by the smooth sound that they produce. I see it as being simple.
It arrived less than one week after I placed the order on Amazon.com. To the listener that wants to turn on a simple device, and relax. I added the extra step with the iPod connect, but you simply plug in the power, then plug the 3.5mm into the aux in port behind the radio, and boom, you're ready to listen to your iPod. Both sides of the spectrum.
And after about a year, I dove in and did it. I was very excited for this, because I am a huge fan of the Pandora App, so I let that stream through my radio, and I must say, it truly sounds amazing. I love the soft, realistic sound that Bose produces. It fits nicely on a shelf beneath my TV.
After much debate about whether to purchase the Wave system, I finally went on and did it. I purchased the iPod connect along with the radio, because primarily I listen to my iPod. I have multiple products that Bose offers.
Anyone who dares to put this radio in their house or office is simply suggesting to the rest of the informed world that they do not review before they shop, nor do they have any knowledge about audio what so ever. Next, I challenge you to find an audio magazine that rates this product as good sounding and worth the money. The speakers are highly inaccurate and the so called great bass is just the product of huge equalization. The drivers they use in these radios are no better than the cheapest radio at walmart. This product is a joke. Bose is nothing more than a marketing hype. It simply won't happen.
I could have gone to radio shack to get one for $10.avoid. Problem, well my alarm is set, so it does go off at 6:45 am, but in order to turn it off, I need to get out of bed and unplug the unit. Sure it sounds nice, but why after spending $350 on a RADIO, to only include a flimsy remote controller the size of a credit card with no controls on the unit itself is a big miss. Right now, I've lost my remote, not hard to do since it's miniscule and I can use the radio. All this for $350.
It's just too bad that Bose didn't include tone controls on a radio this expensive so the sound could be adjusted with a couple of knobs. Turning the talk radio setting to "on" for FM listening helps quite a bit. It's not so bad if you get back about twenty feet because the lows are attenuated by the air and distance. The boosted low frequencies make music from these sources unlistenable. This extremely bass-heavy sound is popular these days.
You can run the CD or XM signal through a separate mixer or equalizer to cut some of the lows. But up close, like on a nightstand next to the bed, the heavy bass and low rumbling will drive you berserk. And the speakers and Wave technology can reproduce these low frequencies very well. The Bose engineers added 20db of amplifier boost between 20hz and 100hz. But I'd rather hear something besides the bass and the bass drum.
But they didn't include this feature when the radio is set to AUX, which is what I use for CD's and XM radio.
They appear to have more value It's main value is in its' compactness. You cannot select one audio level for drifting off to sleep without it being too low to wake you the next day. I would check out the csw systems. I received this as an anniversary gift. No dual alarms and no buzzer. I'm dissapointed with it but at least it did not cost me anything.
